Hi Antony!

Thanks for asking and for posting the first message in this forum.

The answer to your question is not simple. There are several requirements for a skin to be Nucleus compatible.

Still we have not documented anything yet and that's on purpose because we don't want to encourage developers to get in this process at this point. Not before we feel that the product is mature enough for other developers to work with it.

It's something that is in our plans for the near future. That's for sure.

Thanks again!

Hi Vasilis - I really like the clean feel of the skin. For a prospect like myself, hearing that the product is not mature yet doesn't exact enstill confidence. I'm glad to see that the product is being developed, but - is it mature enough to be used for business? - Also, what upgrade options does the license offer? If you come out with the next big release, would I have to pay upgrade fees? One more - are the modules like the forum and e-commerce just as easily customizable? Can we assume that your website is a demo of the skin? Thanks! -Alexander

Hi Alexander,

I don't think Vasilis's use of the word "mature" was intended in the manner you read it. Before we open up the framework for other skin developers we want to analyse feedback from our users to ensure that we have addressed, possibly not all, but most of the major requirements.

Rest assured that the product is under active development.

This site uses the Reactor skin supplied with the current release of Nucleus and yes it is "mature" enough to use on any DNN site. Once a skin is built, using Nucleus, it is like any other high quality skin with the one major difference; you can use Nucleus to tweak the skin and/or add containers at any time. I also use Nucleus skins on my sites. Have a look at one; www.liffeydescent.com

I am not sure what you would like to "customise" with the module. It is just a tool you use to build your skin. However you can customise the skins you build, that is the whole point.

With regard to upgrades there will be an upgrade path for users of earlier versions. However it is unreasonable to expect that having purchased version 1, for example, that all future versions would be free. Individual point releases will be available to existing users of the current major version. Upgrade discounts will be available between major releases.

Thanks for the reply! - I found the answer about the upgrades on the snowcovered website - and yes, free upgrades until the next major release sounds like the industry average, hopefully there would also be a discounts for returning customers.

I checked out your website and it seems like you might be using one of the add-ons I'm interested in - Ventrian. Is that right? Looks to have integrated pretty seamlessly, same simple and slick design. Also, I'm thinking of using Active Social - Do you know if this template will play nicely with that solution?

What I meant by customizing the module is related to what I read about the Puure theme - they claim themselves to be the only theme that gives the consistent look through all modules like the forum, e-commerce, and etc - thus the question.

Thanks for the input - nice website!

Just for clarity sake, this is whom I was referring to in my last reply: http://www.activemodules.com/products/activesocial.aspx

Alexander,

I have not used Active Social but see no reason as to why our reactor skin should not "play nicely" with AS.

I think there is a little confusion here. You, on your recent post, seem to refer to the skinning of the core modules such as Events, Blog and Announcements etc rather than the customisation of Nuclues which I understood you were referring to in your original post. From what I have read, on the Puur website you refer to, I can only assume that the skins on offer there include CSS for each of the referred to core modules. It would appear to me, that you are purchasing a skin from them and not a module like Nucleus that will allow you to build as many skins and containers as you require live on-line in the browser.

It is possible, that in a future release, we could include an editor for each of the core modules or indeed any other comercial modules. However developing editors for such modules is not currently under active development.
